During a meeting with French President Nicholas Sarkozy, Rai voiced concern about the possibility of a radical regime emerging in Syria and the impact it will have on Christians in Lebanon. "Regarding the Christian issue, we (Christians) are afraid of two things: the possibility of a civil war erupting and the emergence of a more radical regime in Syria," he said.
